Winter Blessings

I typically share my seasonal recapitulations (because that’s what ‘recap’ is short for, and I like big words) in a series of unconnected paragraphs, but seeing that a change is as good as a holiday, here’s this winter’s happenings. It’s a list of blessings, because truly, every good thing comes from Him.

Life:
Playing with sparklers
Being blessed by my brother for seventeen years (happy birthday, Bro!)
A night camping with the siblings
Starting a diploma of Christian counselling
Passing a violin exam (and God was right there, holding my hand)
Singing and being part of an orchestra again
Having an article published
Having fun photoshoots with my sister (thanks for your patience ;)
Eating at a vegan café
Grown-up things (and who knew job applications could be so complicated?!)
Nineteen years of life.
Thoughtful friends (you guys bless me so much)
So much rain
Knitting my first pair of socks
Super kind and thoughtful family
Making baked avocadoes, pumpkin pie, stuffed onions, custard slice, and pizza

Favourite books:
The book of Psalms – there’s always something for every situation
How Then Should We Live?
Between A Rock and a Hard Place
The Father Heart of God
Chasing Jupiter (have you read it yet?)

Internet:
Updating my about page
Nina’s post –The Test of the Talents
Kate's post - I'm in the Closet Too
Hosanna's Post - Miracles Still Happen Today
Elissa’s post - I Serve One Master

How was your winter/summer? What books have you been reading recently? (Or, what have you been eating recently, if you prefer?) What fabulous-ness in the internet world have I failed to mention?

  1. Your life sounds really fun, Jessica!!! And one of your favorite books is Chasing Jupiter?? I was going to read that one really soon! Have you read Interrupted?? I liked that one a lot except for a bunch of words that I don't like to use. :/ But the writing and everything was so beautiful!!!

    1. Yes, it is often - with plenty of lessons to learn along to way too. :) Yes, Chasing Jupiter was one of my favourite books from this month - I'm sure you'll like it! I haven't read Interrupted, but it's on my list. Thanks for the recommendation - and for reading and commenting! :)

What great pictures of sparklers! So intricate. I recently came across your blog, and was encouraged to see your list of blessings over the summer and how God has guided your walk of faith.

  8. That was a fun list to read, and I loved the photos :)
I'm thankful for my fought full friends who bless me so much, too. You are one of them!
I think it would be so cool to go camping with my siblings the way you did, but I don't think any of mine would think so haha... I'll just have to wait until I have kids and go with them. Or with a willing friend. Who knows.. We'll see.. :)

    1. Thanks. :) And thanks, again - praise God! The blessing definitely goes both ways. ;)

Haha - I'm sure they just don't know what they're missing out on. Maybe we'll have to plan for a camping trip next time you're down. That would be fun. :)

  9. Christian counseling? Oh my goodness, that sounds amazing. ^.^ And ahh, the fifth sprinkler photo is just beautiful! I've never held a sparkler, let alone see people use one in person, since they're banned from usage in the city. DX

    xoxo Morning

    1. Yes - it is amazing too! I've only been doing the course for a couple of months, but I'm already recommending it to everyone I see. :)

Oh, that must be annoying for you sometimes - that sparklers are banned. Maybe one day you'll get to go for a country trip and try them out. :)

Thanks a lot for reading, and for your comment, Morning. xx

  10. I loooove your way of writing, Jessica!! Your words seem to flow so smoothly - they seem so fit (like apples of gold?). ;) I'm actually reading a book called 'Apples of Gold' at the moment, and whenever I stop to consider the title, it makes me think of you and your blog. So yeah, please keep writing to God's glory!

    1. Wow, thanks Jordy! You comment was a huge encouragement to me. :) Praise God if my words read like apples of gold - that's an amazing compliment, and could only be because of Him. :)

Who's the author of that book? It sounds really interesting! Thanks again for commenting following! xx

    2. Yes, may God be praised!

The book, 'Apples of Gold', consists of hundreds of quotes from various authors, compiled by Jo Petty and organized into nine "chapters" according to the fruit of the Spirit. It's purely quotes; no comments by Jo Petty apart from a brief note included in the beginning of my edition.

  11. Wow, your photos of the sparklers are so lovely! Truly, I always struggle with those, and you have several gorgeous takes.
Also, I too like big words. But I did not know that one, nor do I have my own special dictionary.

    1. Oh, thank you! They were fun to take. :) And yay for fellow word lovers! Do you have a favourite big word you like to use?

Anyway, thanks for reading and commenting, Skeler! I hope you have an excellent day. :)

    2. Oh, there are too many to choose from. I've always been particularly fond of the word loquacious, seeing the irony in loving a word that means I've been saying too many words because it's a big word. ;)

    3. Ooh, that's a good word! It sounds nice too - kind of eloquent. :) I see the irony there too..

When you comment:

1. My day will be brighter, my face smiling, and my heart blessed.

2. I’m likely to immediately go and explore your blog (if you have one) to find out more of your amazingness, and return the blessing.

3. I will then attempt to craft a response to you that will somehow fail to convey how much I truly appreciate your thoughtfulness and kindness. I’m grateful for every word of encouragement you give, and don’t be afraid to share some constructive criticism also; there’s always more to learn. In short: thank-you! :)
