A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. Proverbs 25:11

Words have long fascinated me. I browse the dictionary, make lists of picturesque words, and spout to whoever is around about the origins of words. But I believe words are more than that. God created everything with words. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded and it stood fast. (Psalm 33:9) He said ‘Let’s have some light;’ light appeared from nowhere, and there’s still light today. God’s words have power.

Proverbs 18:21 says, Death and life are in the power of the tongue… Our words have power too – power to build others up, to encourage people, to make a friend’s day, to make a stranger feel they’re not alone, to tell someone they’re loved and valued and priceless. But the opposite is also true. Words can tear people down; ruin their day or life, and plant seeds of guilt, loneliness, and worthlessness. I believe the world needs more words of life; positive words, words of encouragement, words of sympathy, empathy, and reassurance - sincere compliments, honest sharing, and most of all words that point back to the One Who’s words have the power to heal and change lives. 

 I don’t profess to know a lot, I don’t have years of experience to share from; I’m only learning how to live and love and string words together. But I want this blog to be an apple of gold in a world of cardboard. I want it hold words of life, words of depth and weight and meaning; words that encourage, heal, and bring humanity closer together. I want it to be a place where we realize we’re not alone. And most of all, I want the gold to reflect our Saviour’s heart, in the smallest way I can hope for, because He is life.

Me

I’m a pilgrim, philosopher, and pioneer. I seek beauty in everyday things, insight in lives around me, and lessons in God’s creation. Really, I’m a child with nineteen years’ experience, still wide-eyed and learning. Most of all, I’m a recipient of the undeserved and matchless love of God. He pursues me, and it’s the most wonderful feeling I know. Oh, and my name is Jessica. This blog is my gift to you. xxx

P.s I’m also passionate about letting everyone know how talented and beautiful they are, so don’t leave without knowing that you are amazing, and God is deeply in love with you. His plans for you exceed your imagination, and are still working out even when things fall apart. Keep holding on, friend – you are loved.
